The day started out with a good sounding and we were optimistic that we would get some form of weather event. Jacob and I watched on from work on the weather radar as this beautiful cell blew up to the west and proceeded towards the city. It was about 3:30 and I took the first lot of photos from the roof of the Mitchell Centre.

About 4:00 Chris Gribbens and I jumped in the car and flogged out to Humpty Doo and right into the path of this monster. At one point the rain got so heavy that we couldn't see 2m in front of the car and had to pull over. The lightning was quite exciting with a strike every second or so within a couple of kilometres of us with some strikes within 500m's. Once the rain started to clear we turned around and headed back into the city for a second go. On the was back we saw quite a few tree branches laying about just as Jacob called and told us that a Severe Storm Warning had been issued which was already apparent to us!

Meanwhile Jacob escaped from work to take some bloody awesome guster pics as shown below! The cell started to dissipate as it approached the city and then slipped to the south not before dumping a reasonable amount of rain on the city.
